MOMS Orange County will be part of a new community partnership that will focus on providing needed services to low-income infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families in Santa Ana.

A  two-year, $3.2 million grant to Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) Child Development Services from the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Head Start was made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This Early Head Start (EHS) grant will help expectant mothers access comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care; and enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children birth to age three.

The community partners include HABLA, an educational outreach program of UCI’s School of Social Sciences funded by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County which provides parent coaching and home visits to increase the school readiness of disadvantaged Latino children.

The other two partners include:

MOMS Orange County, a non-profit helping women and their families have healthy babies; and

Help Me Grow Orange County, a CHOC/UCI Neurodevelopmental Program funded by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County.
