In honor of the Irvine Health Foundation’s 25thAnniversary, a ceremony was held on January 26, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine to award nonprofits for their work in the Orange County community. Nominees were chosen based on their creativity and innovation in one or more of the following areas: promoting health and wellness, insuring the availability of accessible, quality health-related services, working in the area of health policy, and supporting research designed to develop new knowledge in areas related to health.  Three finalists were then selected to receive a combined $250,000 in grants to further efforts.

As a finalist award recipient, MOMS Orange County as well as Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County each received an unrestricted, one time grant in the amount of $50,000.

During the award ceremony, the largest Irvine Health Foundation prize was awarded to Costa Mesa-based Share Our Selves (“SOS”), for demonstrating extraordinary success, creativity and innovation in insuring the availability of accessible, quality health-related services for Orange County residents in need. The Laguna Niguel-based Health Funders Partnership of Orange County also took home the Irvine Health Foundation Anniversary Award for collaborative efforts leading to significant progress in the availability of care, health, and well being of the community.

“The not-for-profit health community is fortunate to have Irvine Health Foundation. They are one of a select few organizations that can combine investment expertise with an understanding of grass root community needs,” said Mike Austin, MOMS Orange County Board of Directors President. “They put their funds to work in the right places at the right time.  MOMS Orange County is grateful for the award and particularly to be in the company of Health Smiles for Kids of Orange County and Share Our Shelves.”
